Hello, my name
is Heidi Erbsen. I am a 19 year old American student who is studying
international relations and economics at Seton Hall University in the state of
New Jersey. I have been studying Russian language for one year and am excited
to learn more about the Russian language and culture. I am also very excited to
have the opportunity to help students in Russia learn and improve their English
language skills. To help students improve their speaking skills me and the
other volunteers are planning formal lessons about sports, culture, food, world
geography, hobbies, and music. However our fun time with the children does not
end when the lesson is over. The other volunteers and I have been having a
great time playing games and getting to know the children. All the kids here
are so smart and willing to learn. I am glad to have the opportunity to teach
them and have them teach me about their life as well. I am looking forward to
the next week of camp!

My name is Elizabeth, Liz for short, and Liza in Russia. I
am twenty years old and I grew up in New York City. Currently, I am a
student at Georgetown University in Washington, DC, where I am studying Arabic,
and tackling Russian on the side. I cook quite well for a twenty-year-old
college student, if I do say so myself, and in my free time I enjoy frivolous
books and mind-numbing television. I also like learning new languages,
which is why I decided to abandon my family for a summer to teach children
English, and hopefully I will learn a little Russian along the way.
My name is Kasia
Kucharski, but I am called Katya by everyone in Russia so I don’t share a name
with food - Kasia is pronounced like Kasha. I’m 18 years old and study
international relations at The George Washington University in Washington, D.C.
In my spare time, I like to practice my Russian and pretend I know the language
better than I really do. I enjoy reading books of all subjects in an attempt to
better understand the world when my mind is collected enough, otherwise I find
myself and my mind wandering around the city. I came to Russia to have native
speakers humble me in my knowledge of their language and hopefully in return I
hope to share as much of my knowledge of English and American culture as
possible.
My name is Katya
Beebe. I was born in Russia where I lived for the first twelve years of my life
before moving to America. Growing up in Russia with a different language and
culture was only the beginning of my international education. Now, I study
Diplomacy and International Relations at Seton Hall University in New Jersey,
just twenty minutes from New York City. My passion is learning about other
cultures and languages and as a student of the Russian language as well,
naturally, I found myself in Russia this summer. I really enjoy working at this
camp in the little town of Nerekhta because I not only have the opportunity to
teach English to the children, but I also always have the opportunity to
attempt to speak more Russian than I know and have the children correct me many
times. I really love Russia in all its
forms, from the language to the food to the beautiful landmarks and I hope to
visit many more times in the future.
